The Hidden Haberdashery
A men’s resale shop located in the beautiful Blaisdale Manor (pictured at the top of this post) is closings its doors and Sunday, November 13 will be the last day to shop. The well-curated merchandise is all 75% off. As of Saturday when I stopped by, there are men’s blazers and sport coats, ties, leather goods, and miscellaneous accessories still available including a tiny vintage coffee grinder which someone totally needs to snap up. Rewind Vintage in Uptown
This popular Minneapolis vintage shop is following in the footsteps of Blacklist Vintage and closing its Lyndale Avenue doors. Rewind is also selling everything at 75% off and the racks are still full for shopping. Bargain hunters take note: the store will be open for up to a week, but may close sooner if merchandise sells out. Rewind will continue to impact the Minneapolis vintage sale scene from its remaining location in Northeast.

Twin Cities Vacation Tips & a Giveaway

Where to Stay
The post sponsor’s Minneapolis West location in Plymouth which is nicely situated just west of Minneapolis. It’s a quick drive downtown, but it’s also even closer to the beautiful Lake Minnetonka, which picturesque in any season but especially summer. You might end up spending some quality time in the hotel though since it has an outdoor fireplace patio, indoor pool and other amenities.
Things to Do
The Lake Minnetonka area has been a premiere tourist destination since the 1800s. See downtown Wayzata’s Lake Street for shopping, ice cream, boat tours and stand up paddle board rentals.
In Minneapolis, you have to check out the Stonearch Bridge, St. Anthony Main and Boom Island Park-three of my absolute favorite places.
Where to Eat
My favorite hotel amenity? Free breakfast! It’s such a time saver while traveling, leaving more precious time for sightseeing. Keep reading to see a photo of the Country Inn & Suites breakfast room, it’ll make you hungry for waffles.

Two Grand Openings
The Twin Cities event scene welcomed two new wedding services providers last week. Machine Shop wedding and event venue in Minneapolis and Amy’s Cupcake Shoppe in Hopkins are now open, and here’s a peek from when I attended the grand openings.
Machine Shop
Minneapolis has a new wedding and event venue in the sought-after St. Anthony Main area near the Mississippi River. I got an up-close look at the venue in action when I worked as a host at the grand opening. Originally the Pillsbury machine shop, it’s been carefully renovated. The spacious main hall has an open floor plan, perimeter balcony and plentiful windows that provide beautiful natural light. The industrial yet elegant style of the historic venue is sure to appeal to anyone looking for a modern Minneapolis event space just across the river from downtown. The venue is off to a good start. The first Machine Shop wedding was held this weekend and many more are booked through 2016.
Amy’s Cupcake Shoppe
Downtown Hopkins continues to get cuter with the arrival of a Pinterest-worthy cupcake shop. Amy’s Cupcake Shoppe will continue to cater for Twin Cities weddings and parties as it has since 2014, but now it is also a sweet shop destination. Tiny aspiring pastry chefs love the play kitchen! The shop sells coffee drinks, cupcakes and macarons. I’d like to tell you how the cupcakes are but they were out of gluten free flavors when I arrived, which shows how great the demand is! I was able to enjoy treats from other sweets providers who helped Amy’s Cupcake Shoppe celebrate, Sweet Birdie Cotton Candy (the sister company of White Peacock Events, known for frilloons) and North Mallow & Co.

What Minneapolis Wore for Prince
I was in Minneapolis last night for Gamut Gallery’s art lab, where for $5 you can join in a collaborative art night-painting on canvas, painting on other peoples’ canvas, or doing your own project such as knitting. The night was overshadowed by the passing of Minnesota’s own Prince. To celebrate his life, Minnesotans flocked downtown for an all-night dance party. Such an event requires dressing in your Purple Rain outfit finest, I learned from the artists at Gamut.

For a more casual celebration that needs no reservation, drop in to your local cupcake shop. My Twin Cities favorites are Amy’s Cupcake Shoppe (I’ve been a fan since I attended the grand opening) and Nadia Cakes. Both offer gluten free options and aesthetically pleasing (ahem, instagrammable) spaces to sit and chat.
What to do
In the city: Enjoy one of the many theatre shows in the Twin Cities. The Guthrie Theatre has weekday matinees, and a local arts blogger recommended The Royal Family which is playing there this week.
Outside the city: I’m going to let you in on the most amazing secret: Swan Park, an area on a lake in Monticello, attracts thousands of swans in the wintertime. Visitors ready for a romance overload can view and photograph the swans.
If you’re not local, you can still get the swan experience with your sweetie-grab a blanket and hunker down in front of the Swan Cam. To access the Swan Cam and information on Swan Park, head to Monticello Chamber of Commerce’s website.
